STANDING STILL
STANDING STILL STILL STANDING
Runner Beanie presents a photographic journey of hope.
Conducted over five years and capturing all four seasons, Runner’s photos not only document his daily dog-walking route but are testament to the restorative power of nature and the outdoors within his life.
Here, Runner’s photos are juxtaposed against the brutally honest writings from his journal (19 December 2020–18 December 2025). The journal documents his struggles with suicidal ideation and depression, and the impact that ADHD has had on his life. Its darkness stands in stark contrast to the light-filled tranquility of his photography.
Runner credits photography’s necessity of standing still and being present in the moment – offering respite from a racing mind – with the reason that he is still standing with us today.

STANDING STILL: COMMUTABLE PAST
Issue 001 - Spring 2026
Welcome, to the first issue of Standing Still, a quarterly publication, by Runner Beanie.
This issue explores the incidental photos taken with our phones, how they have changed what we photograph, and their function in creating visual autobiographies.
Using my own phone photos from the last decade, I argue for the commutable nature of historical facts (artifacts). In examining this nature, the issue demonstrated the fun and joy that can be had in discovering new patterns and new reinterpretations of past events, which are empowered to affect our feelings in the present.
